Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad invited Applications to M.Tech. and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs admission in various departments like Chemical, Civil Infrastructure Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Materials Science & Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Every department has several specializations programs of the Institute commencing from July 2010.
(a) Engineering: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering;
(b) Sciences: Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics;
(c) Liberal Arts (LA): Economics, Literature, Culture Studies, Gender Studies
M.Tech :Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture from educational Institutions approved by AICTE/Government or Master’s degree in Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Life Science/ related subjects from educational Institutions approved by UGC/ Government or Candidates yet to appear or have appeared in the final examination for the qualifying degree specified in [(i) or (ii)] and whose results are likely to be declared by July 2010.
Doctor of Philosophy: (a) Engineering: M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.(Engineering) degree with first class or equivalent in the respective or allied areas. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and possessing a valid GATE score may also apply.
(b) Sciences & LA: M.Sc./M.A. degree with first class or equivalent in respective or allied areas with a valid GATE/UGC Net/CSIR JRF/NBHM score.
Financial support (i.e., assistantship or scholarship) will be provided to all Indian students enrolled in the Ph.D. programme provided they do not receive any other form of financial assistance.
Applicants working in Government of India R&D Organizations/Laboratories are eligible to apply. Such applicants (a) need to be deputed on leave by the parent organization/department, for completing the course requirement (b) do not require GATE qualification, and (c) will not be paid any assistantship or scholarship by IIT Hyderabad.
15% seats are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST and 27% for OBC. Also, up to 3% of seats are reserved for persons with physical disability (PD) in each category as per Government of India rules.
